About Me
I’m a research data scientist currently working at CERL (Construction Engineering Research Laboratory) in Champaign, IL. I have a bachelor’s in Information Sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I develop software. I enjoy trying to understand systems like the Linux kernel. I like reading open source, and I think you should too.

My Work
At CERL, I work within the SMS-TCX team. For a more detailed discussion on our team and the lab, see this post.
We (the SMS-TCX team) are one of a select number of programs in the U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) designated as a Technical Center of Expertise. The lab itself exists alongside seven other labs within the Engineer Research & Development Center (ERDC), a subset within USACE, headquartered in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Other labs specialize in fields such as cold regions and coastal and hydraulics research.
I work on a research team comprised of mathematicians, PhD Civil Engineers, and software devs to improve methods of forecasting and analyzing facility and component degredation for real property assets across the branches of the military and, more broadly, the Department of War.
About This Site
The intent of this site is to showcase projects I’m proud of and to demonstrate technical understanding I’ve gained throughout my educational and professional career. It’s also a venue for me to write about what I’m passionate about, usually things related to programming or engineering. I’m both proud and grateful for the large overlap between my career and my passions.
In this site, I include a section for “Projects” many of which are in the realm of software engineering. Some also apply broadly to mathematics and engineering disciplines.
